Hospitals add 13,600 jobs in March

Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.26 percent in March to a seasonally adjusted 5,223,400 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 13,600 more people than in February and 108,500 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 5,220,000 people in March – 16,200 more than in February and 108,100 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate was unchanged in March at 3.8 percent.
