Open enrollment in 2019 health plans through HealthCare.gov and most state exchanges begins Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15. Americans can apply for individual market coverage through the exchanges during the annual open enrollment period or following a qualifying life event, such as loss of alternative coverage. CMS last month awarded 39 organizations grants to help consumers shop for and enroll in 2019 exchange coverage in states with federally-facilitated exchanges. The recipients will partner with organizations in their communities, many of which include hospitals, to provide targeted outreach to consumers.
