Clinicians can apply through Sept. 6 to participate in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Medicare Advantage Qualifying Incentive Arrangement Demonstration. Announced as part of the Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule for calendar year 2019, the demonstration allows clinicians who participate to a sufficient degree in certain payment arrangements with MA organizations to earn an exemption from the Merit-based Incentive Payment System’s reporting requirements and payment adjustment. The requirements for qualifying payment arrangements will be the same as the other payer Advanced Alternative Payment Model criteria for Medicare plans under the Quality Payment Program.
