President signs Veterans Choice appropriations bill
President Trump Saturday signed into law legislation providing $2.1 billion in funding to continue the Veterans Choice Program. Authorized under the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 and extended in April, the Department of Veterans Affairs program allows some veterans to receive primary care, inpatient and outpatient specialty care and mental health care from non-VA health care providers rather than waiting for a VA appointment or traveling to a VA facility. Unanimously approved by the House and Senate, the funding bill also authorizes 28 medical facility leases and changes a number of VA authorities related to personnel.
