President Trump this week nominated as assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services Robert Kadlec, who currently serves as deputy staff director for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Kadlec previously served President George W. Bush as a special assistant for biodefense policy.
