Price nomination for HHS secretary advances to full Senate
The Senate Finance Committee today voted 14-0, with no Democrats present, to advance the nomination of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) to serve as Health and Human Services secretary. No Democrats attended yesterday’s scheduled vote on the confirmation. To enable today’s vote, the committee temporarily suspended its rules requiring at least one member from each party to be present for a quorum. “For the record, I’ll note that the Senate Parliamentarian Office has confirmed that this course of action is consistent with both the committee and Senate rules,” said Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
