The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released new guidance on changes to hospital cost report worksheet S-10. Specifically, the agency has modified the instructions for line 20 of the worksheet to include the actual charge amounts for the entire facility, except physician and other professional services, that were determined in accordance with the hospital’s charity care criteria/policy and written off to charity care during this cost reporting period, regardless of when the services were provided. In addition, the worksheet and instructions now refer to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program as the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
