The Health and Medicine Division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine has released proceedings from a recent workshop on community-level approaches to disaster risk reduction. The AHA was a sponsor of the event, which looked at specific strategies that can be implemented at the local level through cross-sector collaboration. On Sept. 7-8, the National Academies’ Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Catastrophic Events will host a workshop on applying community-level strategies to countering violent extremism and radicalization.
