More than 1,000 health care facilities have joined the American Society for Healthcare Engineering’s Energy to Care program, ASHE announced today. The program encourages hospitals to reduce their energy consumption by 10% or more. Since 2009, participating hospitals have tracked more than $67 million in energy savings. For more about the free program, which includes a robust energy benchmarking tool, visit www.energytocare.com. Earlier this year, ASHE recognized more than 20 hospitals for their work to slash energy use, reduce operational costs and free up more resources for patient care. ASHE is an AHA personal membership group.
