Medicare extends moratoria on new HH, ambulance providers in some areas
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Friday extended the moratoria in certain counties on new home health agencies and ground ambulance suppliers in Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The affected counties are in the Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, FL, areas for the home health moratorium; and Philadelphia and Houston for the ambulance moratorium. The original moratoria date back to July 2013 and February 2014, and have been extended in six-month increments based on CMS’s determination of a high risk of fraud, waste or abuse among home health and ambulance service providers in these areas.
