The AHA Board of Trustees has elected as its chair-elect designate Eugene “Gene” Woods, president and chief operating officer of CHRISTUS Health in Irving, TX. He will assume the AHA chairmanship in 2017. Woods joined CHRISTUS Health in 2011 and is responsible for overseeing its acute, post-acute and international operations in the U.S., Mexico and Chile. He is a member of the AHA Board of Trustees and its Executive Committee and chair of the Equity of Care Committee. “As hospitals continue to transform themselves to improve care for their patients and communities, I look forward to leading the AHA in spurring those efforts and working with members in support of the AHA mission to advance the health of individuals and communities,” Woods said.
