The House Energy and Commerce Committee today voted 51-0 to approve an amended version of the 21st Century Cures Act (H.R. 6). Reductions to payments for hospital services were not included as an offset in the final package. In addition, the bill does not include changes to the 340B Drug Pricing Program, an idea that had been discussed earlier this week. In a letter to the committee this week, AHA voiced opposition to this proposal. AHA also expressed concern with certain enforcement mechanisms for health care providers related to electronic health record interoperability, currently in the bill. The legislation could go to the House floor for consideration next month.
