Description

November 19, 2019

In the current healthcare climate, challenges continue to increase while resources continue to dwindle. When standards aren’t met or conflict ensues within the team due to performance issues among staff, it is unrealistic and undesirable to simply dispense with the low performer. The better option is to learn how to successfully coach the low performer into a place of success in order to preserve team synergy.

In this webinar, Jan Brauer RN, BSN, MA and Rhonda Fischer RN, BSN, CEN discuss the importance of engaging every staff member, including the low performer or late adopter, in preserving the team dynamic, a critical factor driving both staff satisfaction and patient safety. They then lead viewers through a powerful 5-step process (the 5R’s) to utilize when addressing the struggling team member. Viewers will walk away with key concepts such as: the power of the question, how to address performance issues while affirming personal value, and the importance of readjusting leadership approach to engage the next generation of team members.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the impact of low performance on the team dynamic, and thus, patient safety
  • Understand the importance of adjusting leadership approach in reaching the next generation of team members
  • Articulate the 5R’s as a strategy for engaging the low performer
