Description

Making the Difference in Precision Medicine
Pathologists and Hospital Leaders Leverage New Technologies in Prognostic and Predictive Patient Care

Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019
12 -1 p.m. Eastern; 11 -12 p.m. Central; 9 -10 a.m. Pacific

As the era of precision medicine unfolds, pathologists and clinical laboratories have become increasingly valuable in ensuring the quality, safety and value of the patient’s medical journey.

Pathology not only holds the key to the accuracy and speed of diagnosis but is also gaining more recognition from clinicians and patients through its role in providing valuable prognostic and predictive information to guide patient care decisions.

Marilyn M. Bui, MD, PhD, FCAP, and Robert J. Keenan, MD, MMM, will illustrate some best-practice examples from their experiences at Moffitt Cancer Center on how pathologists and clinical laboratories can partner with their health care leaders in improving cancer care.

The collaborative advantage of close partnerships among pathologists, hospital administrators and other clinicians is key to effective patient-centered precision medicine. By leveraging and developing emerging technologies like digital pathology and artificial intelligence, pathologists will more fully be able to diagnose disease and work with clinicians in more accurately guiding treatment.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to best partner your medical laboratory with clinical partners to guide diagnosis and treatment on the patient’s journey.

  • How pathologists and the medical laboratory help ensure quality and cost-effective patient care.
  • How to leverage and plan for current applications and future implications of digital pathology and artificial intelligence in cancer care.
