Innovative Value Proposition for Rehabilitation Services

As our member hospitals and health systems continue to look for new ways to address the challenges of affordability and to promote value in the public policy debate, some members have developed several innovative approaches to providing rehabilitation services.  HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals has developed a program that works collaboratively with home health programs and emergency departments to evaluate patients that have demonstrated a decline in abilities to walk or to perform self-care activities.

Patty Ostaszewski, CEO of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River, Toms River, NJ and members of her team will speak to the role rehabilitation hospitals can play to ensure patients achieve their greatest functioning abilities with the support of a comprehensive approach to patient care when provided in the appropriate level of post-acute care. Participants will learn how to organize and partner with referral sources; how to plan and manage the financial impact of these efforts; and, how to use the outcomes data collected to create your own “value proposition” for rehabilitation services.
