Pathologists and health system leaders prepare for the next crisis and clinical challenges

The COVID-19 pandemic halted everyday activities and forced us to take stock of what we value most at work and home, including what brings value to others such as colleagues and patients.

Pathologists at Duke University Health System seized the opportunity to step forward and lead, partnering with health system leaders and lending their laboratory medicine perspective as providers of crucial services and testing to safeguard health care workers and patients from infections and to continue essential medical services. Michael B. Datto, M.D., PhD, FCAP, associate professor of pathology and associate vice president and director, Duke Health Clinical Laboratories, and Diana M. Cardona, M.D., FCAP, associate professor of pathology and associate director, Duke Health Clinical Laboratories, will share their experiences.
