Labor productivity in health care continues to decline, especially in administrative functions, driving continued cost growth in nonclinical functions. Labor cost is approximately 60% of expenses and steadily growing year over year by over 10%. More than any other services sector, health care continues to add more jobs for administrative support roles to manage task-oriented activities. In fact, the ratio of administrative roles to provider of care is 3 to 6.
