Models for Equitable Care

Focusing on strategies to improve quality and achieve health care equity is a growing national priority. Two upcoming Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence webinars will provide guidance and information to help organizations that are beginning the journey to providing equitable care as well as those further along the path. In collaboration with the Disparities Solution Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, “Hearing All Voices: Race, Ethnicity, Language and the Patient Experience” on October 22 will discuss how measuring patient-reported outcomes is an essential quality assessment, yet patient experience surveys often under-represent racial, ethnicity and linguistic minorities. On November 5, “Equity of Care: State-Level Perspectives on Reducing Health Care Disparities,” co-sponsored by the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, will feature stories shared by the Tennessee Hospital Association, Maryland Hospital Association and Adventist HealthCare in Maryland about their equity of care efforts.
