Good patient/provider communication correlates with greater patient satisfaction, increased patient safety, higher rates of adherence to and compliance with treatment recommendations and medication regiments and improved health outcomes. This greater understanding helps reduce medical errors, cost of inappropriate and unnecessary care, noncompliance and risk.
