Community Memorial Healthcenter - Pink Power Program

Community Memorial Healthcenter, with the assistance of a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Richmond Affiliate, provides breast health and breast self-exam education to the service area via the school systems, area churches, health fairs and Blood Pressure Clinics. Clinical breast exams, mammograms and ultrasounds are free to qualifying participants. Community Memorial collaborates with Community Church Health Partners and local doctors’ offices to locate participants.

Who is it for?

Uninsured and underinsured women between the ages of 40 and 64, living in the surrounding medically underserved areas.

Why do they do it?

Breast cancer rates in rural Southside Virginia are higher than national rates.
