Wilson County Hospital - Women's Night Out!

This program is for women to enjoy a night out with the girls, receive free health screenings and enjoy information booths. The event so successful because important health issues are addressed in a fun and entertaining way. Health screenings consist of osteoporosis, blood glucose, mammograms, and blood pressure. Some health information booths consist of pressure mappings hosted by the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, a diabetes corner, dental, eyes, and pharmacy. The event is hosted in fall every other year to provide excitement and up-to-date health information and interest booths.

Wilson County Hospital sponsors the event with a goal of a “Health Fair and more – Much More”; the booths include information about domestic violence, support groups, home décor, and cooking. Other booths address child obesity, golfing information, fitness centers, stress-relieving messages, healthy snacks and low-calorie juice samples, makeovers, beauty tips, gardening, scrap booking and craft ideas. Door prizes are given along with coupons and samples.

Who is it for?

Women of all ages.

Why do they do it?

This is an opportunity for women to learn about health issues in a fun way and find resources they may not normally seek out. This is also a time for many women to receive health screens that have never had them done due to lack of time, insurance or high deductibles.

Impact

This has been a very successful event over the past couple of years for our community as well as in our region, with approximately 450 in attendance.
