MA hospital receives 2015 Foster McGaw Prize
Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, today received the 2015 Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service for its broad-based efforts to partner with underserved local communities to improve health. The Baxter International Foundation, AHA and Health Research & Educational Trust sponsor the annual $100,000 prize. Named as finalists and receiving $10,000 each are: ThedaCare in Appleton, WI; Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine in Lancaster, PA; and St. Joseph Health, Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, CA. “Massachusetts General Hospital has spent the past 20 years building highly engaged partnerships with communities,” said John O’Brien, prize committee chair. “They are dedicated to addressing social and economic determinants of health, reducing barriers to care for vulnerable populations and promoting health equity.” For more on the recipients, see the AHA news release.
