Christina Campos to Receive 2024 AHA Board of Trustees Award

WASHINGTON (April 11, 2024) — The American Hospital Association (AHA) today announced that Christina Campos, CEO of Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa, N.M., will be awarded its 2024 Board of Trustees Award. The Board of Trustees Award is presented to individuals or groups who have made substantial and noteworthy contributions to the work of the AHA on behalf of the hospital field. 

Campos will receive the award during an April 15 ceremony at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C.

“Christina has long been a leading voice in health care, particularly when it comes to patient access in rural America,” said AHA president and CEO Rick Pollack. “Christina’s expertise and passion in providing innovative, quality care to rural communities has been felt throughout New Mexico and the entire hospital and health system field.”

Campos has been involved with the AHA for more than a decade in various roles, including on the AHA Board of Trustees, Regional Policy Board 8, the AHA Committee on Nominations, the Task Force on Ensuring Access in Vulnerable Communities, the Task Force on the Future of Rural Healthcare, and the Advocacy Alliance for Rural Health Care. Campos also chaired the New Mexico Hospital Association in 2010 and 2011.

As president and CEO of Guadalupe County Hospital, Campos has improved and expanded services as well as training and recruiting local staff. She led the planning, financing, design, and construction of a replacement facility for the hospital. Under her leadership, Guadalupe County Hospital has been recognized as a model of design, quality, and patient care.

Campos has been Administrator of Guadalupe County Hospital since 2004.
