Ken Kaufman to Receive AHA Award of Honor
WASHINGTON (April 10, 2024) — The American Hospital Association (AHA) today announced that its 2024 Award of Honor will be presented to Ken Kaufman, founder, managing director, and chair of Kaufman Hall in Chicago, in recognition of his long career providing health care organizations with expert counsel and guidance in areas including strategy, finance, planning, and partnerships. The award is given to individuals or organizations in recognition of exemplary contributions to the health and well-being of our nation through leadership on major health policy or social initiatives. Kaufman will receive the award during a ceremony on April 15 at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C.
For nearly 50 years, Kaufman’s expertise has benefited community hospitals and health systems, academic medical centers, and regional and national health systems alike, helping them serve their patients and communities more efficiently and effectively. He and his team at Kaufman Hall have been significant contributors to the thought leadership of the hospital field for a generation.

Recognized as a leading authority and committed to education of the field, Kaufman has authored or coauthored seven books and hundreds of articles and blogs. He has given almost 600 presentations to health care organizations of all types, including the AHA, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the Governance Institute, and management teams and boards at hospitals across the U.S.
