Take Five: Make Room for Transformation and Innovation Conversations
Connecting transformation and innovation efforts on health care’s front lines can help any hospital or health system improve performance. Take Five, a new series of five-minute video conversations from the AHA Center for Health Innovation, focuses on ways in which innovative hospitals, health systems and their partners are transforming care.
The first conversation features Omkar Kulkarni, MPH, chief innovation officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and managing director of KidsX, an accelerator program that aims to deploy more digital health technologies in pediatric hospitals. He discusses a CHLA forum that brings together clinicians, administrators and researchers to solve complicated problems in pediatrics.
Upcoming conversations will include Angela Yochem, Novant Health, executive vice president, chief transformation and digital officer, on the role of technology in improving the consumer experience; Marcus Osborne, Walmart senior vice president, on innovation in primary care and hospital-employer partnerships; William Shank, chief medical officer at Humana, on costs, value and payer-provider partnerships; and Emily LaFeir, senior director of innovation and operations at the Steele Institute for Health Innovation, on artificial intelligence, hospital operations and health systems as catalysts for innovation.
“We set out to create a platform that offers short but meaningful conversations with leaders from across various sectors, from providers to retail, who are executing strategies that are changing the health care paradigm. Each five-minute talk can help inspire you to navigate health innovation inside and outside your organization and provide some insight about the partner ecosystem,” says Andy Shin, chief operating officer, AHA Center for Health Innovation.
